I came to Madrid to study, knowing the theory and none of the practicalities. I got my first NIE the hard way — queues, forms and repeat visits — and once I was hired, I had to sort out the contract, Social Security and my DNI. I built seven years of a career and a life in Spain, in finance. Then life changed: I deregistered, packed up and moved abroad. Now I am back, going through every procedure again and documenting every step. Landesp exists because I lived the entire journey — I did not read about it in a blog.

I am a lawyer, graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, with a Master’s in European Regulations from Università Bocconi in Milan. I have lived and worked in Chicago, New York, Milan and Alicante, where I worked at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), as part of the Boards of Appeal. I currently live in Valencia, the city I chose to make my permanent home. Having personally experienced the challenges of regularising a situation, finding housing and adapting to new legal systems, I help people arriving in Spain understand what to do, when to do it and who to turn to.
