Spain Digital Nomad Visa for Peruvians: Income Rules & SUNAT in 2026

How to prove freelance receipts or remote payroll in soles, the €2,849 income bar, and the fast lane to dual citizenship in 2 years.

The flags of Peru and Spain merged into one, joined by a diagonal seam

You work as a software engineer, digital consultant, designer, or project lead from Lima, Arequipa, or Trujillo for international clients and want to establish yourself in Europe. Spain's Startups Law provides one of the most accessible residency pathways, especially for Peruvian nationals.

The international telework visa allows remote professionals to live legally in Spain while invoicing companies outside Spain. For Peruvian passport holders, this route combines professional freedom with the legal opportunity to apply for Spanish nationality after just two continuous years of residence.

The financial bar: 200% of Spain's Minimum Interprofessional Wage

Spanish regulations require applicants to demonstrate regular income of at least twice the national minimum wage. Under 2006 parameters, this translates to roughly 2,849 euros gross per month, or between 11,400 and 11,800 Peruvian soles depending on currency exchange fluctuations.

When relocating with a spouse or legal partner, an additional 75% of the SMI (around 1,068 euros) is required, plus 25% for each dependent minor child (around 356 euros), backed by audited banking statements and commercial contracts.

Peruvian SUNAT receipts (4th category) vs remote employment contracts

For independent contractors issuing receipts (Recibos por Honorarios), Spanish authorities request valid service contracts spanning at least three months of prior relationship, proof of active SUNAT RUC registration, and consistent tax returns confirming payments.

For salaried remote employees, the foreign employer must provide written permission formally authorizing remote work from Spain alongside confirmation of permanent employment status.

Lima Consulate (1 year) vs direct online filing through UGE (3 years)

Peruvian citizens have two procedural choices: book an intake slot at BLS Lima to get a one-year preliminary visa, or travel to Spain visa-free as a tourist and lodge the file online with the Large Business Unit (UGE-CE) to obtain a direct three-year residence permit.

The direct in-country filing is strategically advantageous: the three-year residency granted directly by UGE exceeds the two-year residency required for Peruvian nationals to apply for Spanish citizenship by residence.
