Filing for a long-stay student visa from Peru (stays exceeding ninety days) requires strict compliance with specific consular mandates. Since May 2024, the Consulate General in Lima enforces a designated panel of medical centers authorized to issue official health certificates.

The mandatory accredited medical clinic rule in Lima

For academic stays longer than six months (over 180 days), medical certificates must be issued exclusively by clinics approved by the Spanish consular jurisdiction in Lima. The certificate must explicitly state that the applicant is free from public health hazards in accordance with the 2005 International Health Regulations.

Demonstrating living funds in Peruvian Soles (IPREM)

Spanish immigration regulations demand 100% of the monthly IPREM (600 euros per month, roughly 2,450 to 2,550 PEN). For a full academic year of ten to twelve months, applicants should demonstrate liquid savings exceeding 30,000 PEN across their last three official bank statements.

Bank statements must bear original institutional stamps. If sponsored by parents, a certified birth certificate and notarized economic sponsorship affidavit are mandatory.

Mandatory apostilles through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RREE)

Police and judicial background certificates issued in Peru must carry the Hague Apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RREE). Students enrolling in undergraduate bachelor's degrees must have their secondary certificates authenticated through UGEL and MINEDU before apostilling.
